Meet the Teacher: Ms. Hillary
Hi friends! I’m Ms. Hillary, and I’m the owner and lead teacher at Discovery Adventures Preschool this year! This will be my 11th year teaching preschool, and before that, I taught elementary in 1st, 5th, and 6th grades. Teaching has always been my passion and dream and I’ve loved every age and grade. But there’s something truly magical about these preschool years—they’re filled with curiosity, creativity, and so many “lightbulb” moments.
A Little About Me
I adore my wonderful husband, son, daughter, dog and cat! They keep life interesting and fun. When I’m not in the classroom, you’ll probably find me spending time with my family. We love sharing good stories (books, tv, movies…), exploring nature and traveling.
I especially enjoy doing yoga, learning something new, or making art. And I love good food—especially if I didn’t have to cook it!
I graduated from BYU and Snow College with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Theater. Over the years, I’ve also earned certifications in ESL, Kids Yoga, and Therapeutic Art, which I love to weave into my teaching.
My Teaching Style
I believe children learn best when they are engaged, active, and having fun. My classroom is a place where curiosity is encouraged, creativity is celebrated, and each child’s unique personality shines. I like to balance structured learning activities with open-ended play, so children can explore concepts in ways that make sense to them.
You’ll often find us singing, moving, building, painting, and asking lots of questions. I use a mix of hands-on activities, creative arts, and meaningful conversations to help children develop both academic and social-emotional skills. My goal is to make each child feel confident, capable, and excited to learn.
Why I Love Preschool
Preschoolers are full of wonder. They see the world with fresh eyes, and every day is a new adventure. I love being part of those early discoveries—whether it’s writing their name for the first time, making a new friend, or proudly showing off a piece of art they created. These years lay the foundation for a lifetime of learning, and it’s such an honor to be part of that journey.
I can’t wait to learn, laugh, and grow together this year! Here’s to a wonderful adventure in preschool.
