ABC's and Measuring
This week we reviewed our alphabet, measured in math, and rhymed -ad words!

Field Trip to the Fire Station
We were privileged to enjoy a field trip by our wonderful community heroes at the fire station. They taught us with an entertaining video about fire stations. Then we got to tour the fire station. It was impressive to Firefighter Stein in full gear and we learned how important it is to never run away or hide from them because they are there to help you. The highlight for several of the kids was getting to sit in the fire engine! We left with hats on our heads, stickers on our chest, and happy hearts. Thank you Syracuse Fire Department!

Hooray for Jj!
Jack in the boxes, Jello, Jungles, jars, jelly beans - we did a lot with the letter Jj this week! I'm so proud of how hard are students have been working to learn the alphabet!

Quaint Qq!
This week we worked on the following goals:

- I can rhyme with the ending sound -ag.

Yummy or Yucky?
Part of our "Yellow Carnival" included a Yummy/Yucky challenge. We tried at least two tiny bites of each food and voted if they were yummy or yucky. We then sorted the items in a simple graph to help us analyse the data. It was great fun and learning! Thanks for all those who donated an item for us to taste!
At least one of the classes put the following items in the "Yummy" column of our graph:
- Yogurt
- Raisins
- Gluten-free crackers
- Chocolate
- Marshmallows
- Apple juice
- Blueberries
- Fruit snacks
- Cookies
- Yellow Bell Peppers
- Peanuts
- Cotton Candy
- Lemons
- Twinkies
At least one of the classes put the following items in the "Yucky" column of our graph:
- Jalapeno pepperonis
- Dark chocolate
- Raisins
- Peanuts
- Yellow Bell Peppers
Yy Week
We opened a Frozen Yogurt Shop in our Dramatic Play Center for Yy week. The kids had a lot of fun taking orders and were so professional! We also explored yarn and yellow and yaks. In math we compared objects and introduces them to the concept of greater than/less than, including the mathematical symbol.

Happy Easter!
I hope all my wonderful students and their families had a beautiful Easter! Enjoy your spring break!
Zz Week
For Zz week, we had lots of learning and fun with zoos and zebras! We did fiZZy science as we explored the chemical reaction of baking soda and vinegar in eggs! We had some good, messy fun as we practice writing Z's in shaving cream, pretending the shaving cream was a cloud and our Z's were lightning bolts!

Our goals this week were:

Wow! Ww Week was wonderful!
For Ww week, students had fun predicting the weather, deciding on the proper attire, and talking about the seasons changing! We water colored and investigated how water changes. We worked on our fine motor skills by weaving webs with Ww words and making wiggly worms from cereal and then had fun pretending our fingers were worms wiggling in the wet dirt! We also rhymed with the -ow sound when we "fed a cow some chow". In math we worked on subtraction. We even fit in another fire drill. Whoosh! What a week!

Dd was Delightful!
Dominos, dots, dinosaurs, dogs, disguises, detectives, dissolving... We had another fun and busy week learning, this time the letter Dd, the number 9, and the rhyming sound -ed!

We searched for missing alphabet letters in style! Do any of our detectives disguises dupe you?
Excellent Ee!
This week and last, for letter Ee, we did engineer challenges!
Here are the winning bridges, towers, and large structures:
Eggs and experiments were common this week! We did experiments with bouncy eggs and elephant toothpaste and even made paint out of egg yolk!
Ee is for eyes and ears! We first learned about our eyes and ears through children's science books. We also did science with sound and tried to discover what sounds we were hearing when we couldn't use our eyes. We examined our eyes and then used them to explore as we searched for things that begin with the Ee sound.
Play: Whose eyes do you recognize?
